Anatole France speech at the unveiling of the statue of Madame Desbordes-Valmore, the poetess, 1896.

An autograph manuscript in French, signed at the end with a flourish. There are corrections in France's hand throughout, with new material occasionally pasted over passages. The numbered leaves were tipped onto hinges and bound together in dark blue levant with ruled dentelles by Charles Meunier. The date of the manuscript is attributed from the date of the statue's dedication.
